The Dangers of Yaz & Yasmin

Yaz® and Yasmin are oral contraceptives that are produced and marketed by Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals for the prevention of pregnancy and treatment of minor acne.

Although the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Yasmin on May 11, 2001 and Yaz on March 16, 2006, they have since issued warning letters for both drugs indicating the company was overstating the benefits and understating the risks of both drugs in advertisements.

Bayer Healthcare pharmaceuticals has made billions of dollars from the sales of Yaz and Yasmin.  Revenue from the drug in 2008 alone was over $600 million.  However, many have called for more regulation of the drugs or an all-out ban due to some of the severe side effects associated with them.

Experts have linked the use of Yaz®, Yasmin and the generic Ocella to several serious conditions including:

  • Stroke
  • Heart Attack
  • Blood Clots in the legs or lungs
  • Gallbladder Disease.

The Yaz Resource Center offers information about the many side effects associated with the use of Yaz and Yasmin.  At the present time, however, we are only accepting cases relating to Heart Attacks, Stroke, Blood Clots including DVT and Pulmonary Embolism, and Gall Bladder Disease.

If you or someone you love has been affected by the severe side effects of Yaz®, Yasmin or Ocella, we are available to answer your questions and discuss your legal options. Contact us today to speak with an attorney.  Time to file a lawsuit may be limited.
